He was a very good and nice friend of mine at the age of 16. I played drums and he asked me one day as I was deliver the afternoon newspaper if I would bring my drum set down and let's play some so I did. From there we got to play at BILL'S BARN and restaurant In Knoxville, Tennessee. Then we played on stage in the OLIVER SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL . I didn't know that BOXCAR WILLIE was going to play there too. After Conrad an I played our songs I guess I got side ways and just stayed on stage and played my drums behind Boxcar. When he finished he turned to me and said that he never had a drummer to play behind him and he said thanks. That was a special day back then. Then Conrad and I got to play on the old CAS WALKER SHOW in Knoxville. Now that was something . We taped it on a Friday night and it was on Saturday night so we watched it together that was so cool. Well the year of 67 got hard My mother and I were on our way back from West Tennessee to Knoxville to play that night. When the car had a blow out she lost control and I was in the back seat sleeping. Another car hit us on the left corner of the car and it threw me out of the car around and around I went out onto the pavement sliding . When I quit sliding I got up looked around and saw our car down on the bridge. I ran on the broken glass to get to my mom. I tried to open the door but it wouldn't open so I got in the back seat and leaned over and said mom mom you OK. She rolled her head over toward me and mumbled something then she took a deep breath and then she was gone then I went into shock. So I got to the hospital in Cookville ,I asked if I could get ahold of the restaurant and let Conrad know what happen . After all that I got to play a few more times there and then it was over. There is more after this but will wait. Thank you
