*According to Kevin Coffey: Gimble wasn’t sure whether the piano was Madge or Harold Carmack, but Anderson thought it was Madge.Gimble may double on mandolin. He rememberd hanging around the studio, looking for any kind of work for extra money. The Cherokees young fiddler (Lawson?) was having trouble with the tunes and Johnny offered to help out. He said Don Law was worried because of his western swing connections and that Law was "afraid" (from a commercial standpoint) of western swing fiddlers. Gimble came in, checked his "swing" tendencies in favor of straight, double-stopped leads, and Law used him often from that point until Gimble left Dallas in 1955.
